Installing Slate Tracker on Windows

The Slate Tracker desktop agent is supported on Windows 10 (build 19045 and later) and Windows 11. You need administrator rights on the machine to complete the installation.

What you will need

  • The latest Windows installer from your account dashboard.
  • Your license key (see Adding Your License Key).
  • A folder on disk where you intend to drop on-set reference images.

1. Download the installer

Sign in to the cloud dashboard at dashboard.slate-tracker.com, open Downloads, and pick Windows installer (.exe). The file is named SlateTracker-Setup-x64.exe.

2. Run the installer

Double click the installer. Windows SmartScreen may show a warning because the app is signed but not yet widely seen. Click More info, then Run anyway.

Pick the install location. The default is:

C:\Program Files\Slate Tracker

The installer creates a Start Menu shortcut and a tray icon entry. It does not start the agent automatically on first install; you will do that in the next step.

3. First launch

Open Slate Tracker from the Start Menu. The agent opens its main window and asks for three pieces of information:

  1. The folder it should watch for new images.
  2. The folder it should file processed images into.
  3. Your license key.

Once you have entered these values, click Save and start watching. The tray icon turns from grey to amber, and any image already in the watch folder is queued for processing.

4. Verify it is working

Drop a test image into your watch folder. Within a few seconds you should see:

  • A toast notification from the tray icon.
  • A new entry on the local dashboard at http://localhost:7745.
  • The image moved into the output folder under the slate card name.

5. Run on startup (optional)

To launch Slate Tracker automatically when you sign in:

  1. Open the agent.
  2. Go to Settings, then Startup.
  3. Toggle Start with Windows.

The agent will be registered in your user level startup items, not as a system service.

Uninstalling

Open Apps and Features, find Slate Tracker, and choose Uninstall. Your watch folder, output folder, and config.yaml are left in place so you do not lose any reference images.
